Privacy Policy

QR Reader (“the App”) is a macOS menu bar app that scans QR codes from your screen. It is developed by George Shaginyan (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what the App accesses and how that data is handled.
Summary
We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The App has no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no account.
Screen Recording Permission
The App needs the macOS Screen Recording permission to capture the screen area you select. It captures the screen only when you start a scan, and only the area you select. The captured image is:
- Processed on your Mac with Apple’s Vision framework to find a QR code
- Discarded immediately after processing
- Never saved to disk, uploaded, or shared
Scan Results and Clipboard
When a QR code is found, its content is copied to your clipboard and, if it is a link, may be opened in your default browser. The App does not keep a history of scanned codes.
Data Stored on Your Mac
The App stores a few settings locally using macOS preferences:
- Your keyboard shortcut
- Whether links open automatically
- The number of free scans used
This data never leaves your Mac and is removed when you delete the App.
In-App Purchase
QR Reader Pro is sold as a one-time In-App Purchase through the Mac App Store. Payments are processed entirely by Apple. We never receive your name, email address, or payment details. The App only checks with the App Store whether the purchase has been made.
Third-Party Services
The App does not include any third-party SDKs, analytics platforms, or advertising networks. Apart from the App Store purchase check, the App does not connect to the internet.
Children’s Privacy
The App does not collect data from anyone, including children.
